Find a form template with the public API. Work with your forms through MCP. Bring Youform into the tools you already use.
curl --get \
'https://youform.com/api/v1/templates' \
--data-urlencode 'q=intake' \
--data-urlencode 'type=form' \
--data-urlencode 'limit=5'
Read-only. No API key needed.
A connection for
the job at hand.
- Find a template
- Use the public catalog API to search form, survey, and quiz templates. It returns public guides, with no account access.
- Work with an AI assistant
- Connect Youform MCP with OAuth to create and edit drafts, publish authorized changes, and analyze your form responses.
- Integrate with your account
- Use the separate developer API and an account token for the operations in its current documentation.
Youform public API quickstart
Make the request above to get a JSON list of matching templates. Each item includes its name, description, type, categories, and a URL to its guide. Use the returned URL so you keep the original template slug and casing.
Search, filter, and page through results
| Parameter | What it does |
|---|---|
q | Matches a substring in names, descriptions, or categories, ignoring case. Optional; at most 200 characters. |
type | Optional: form, survey, or quiz. |
limit | Items per page: 1–100. Defaults to 20. |
offset | Start at 0. For each next page, use the returned nextOffset. Stop when it is null. |
total is the matching count. No matches returns HTTP 200 with an empty items array. Use each query parameter once; unknown parameters return 400.
Handle errors without guessing
API errors use application/problem+json, with a machine-readable code and a recovery hint. Correct an invalid query after 400, check the specification after 404, and use GET or HEAD after 405. Retry a 500 later.
The API supports GET, HEAD, and OPTIONS, with public CORS access. Results are a build-time catalog snapshot; follow the response’s cache headers. It does not create forms or expose account data.
Youform MCP & OAuth
Give a compatible AI assistant access to your Youform account through the remote MCP connection. Complete Youform’s OAuth sign-in and consent flow in your client.
https://app.youform.com/mcp- Add the server URL in a client that supports remote MCP and OAuth.
- Sign in to the intended Youform account and approve the requested access.
- Let the client discover the current tools and their input schemas.
- Start with a draft or read-only request. Review drafts before publishing and authorize writes explicitly.
The published OAuth scope is mcp:use. This is a broad MCP access scope; it does not declare separate read-only, editing, or publishing scopes. Tool availability and plan requirements still apply.
Authentication discovery
The application publishes its own machine-readable metadata. Clients should fetch these documents for the current issuer, authorization and token endpoints, and supported scopes.
Use OAuth for MCP. A generic account API token does not authenticate this connection. Never paste credentials into the public catalog or a chat message.
Youform account API & API keys
The developer API is separate from both MCP and the public template catalog. Open Account Settings in Youform, then find API Tokens to create and manage a token. Follow the product API documentation for its authentication format and supported operations.
Keep account tokens on your server and out of public browser code. This site’s OpenAPI specification describes the public catalog only.
Try a request, then review a draft
You can test public catalog queries without credentials. For account workflows, use a dedicated form you own and an authorized client. Preview a draft before publishing; public form submissions and AI generation are real product actions.
Give your agent a useful starting point.
Use Youform for client intake, lead capture, feedback surveys, event registration, and quizzes. Start with the user’s purpose and audience, choose a relevant template, then use an authorized connection for account work.

- Youform API catalog: public API and MCP discovery
For a missing web page, request Accept: text/markdown to receive short recovery links with HTTP 404. Browsers requesting HTML keep the normal 404 page.
Build with a clear contract.
The public catalog uses /api/v1. Read its versioning, deprecation, and usage policy before integrating. No catalog endpoint is currently scheduled for retirement.
